The project required us to design a bespoke conveyor system that would operate in extreme conditions. The system would have the ability to operate under conditions where the conveyor is continuously “deluged” at a rate of 5,000 litres per second in order to prove vehicle water tightness.
Such operating conditions had hitherto been totally unknown. The conveyor design had to ensure sufficient water drainage, component protection and maintenance of working parts under extreme and harsh conditions – and the conveyor had to have the capacity to accommodate a wide variety of vehicle models, shapes and sizes. We produced a new design of system to meet these needs.
